Privacy
2outube turns public video URLs into readable transcripts. There are no ads, no data sales,
no cross-site tracking pixels, and no third-party ad tech. This page lists everything the
service processes, where it goes, and how long it stays.
What we process when you open a transcript
- The video URL or ID you request. For a video nobody has opened before, the video ID
is sent to one of our transcript suppliers — Supadata
or TranscriptAPI — to fetch the public
captions. Already-archived videos are served from our own store and no supplier is contacted.
- Standard request data (IP address, user agent) is processed by
Cloudflare, which runs our
infrastructure and the human-verification check (Turnstile) on brand-new videos.
What we store, and for how long
- Transcripts of public videos: cached for 30 days, and kept in a permanent public
archive so the same video never costs a second fetch. Transcripts are of public captions and
contain no account data. To have a video removed from the archive, email
support@2outube.com.
- Abuse-prevention counters (free daily allowance, verification grace, rate limits),
keyed by a random device id or IP: these expire automatically — from 5 minutes to 48 hours
depending on the counter. They are never joined to a profile.
- A random device id in your browser's localStorage (no name, no email, not linked to
any account) to meter the free daily allowance, and a first-visit referrer label in
sessionStorage. Both stay on your device and are sent only to us.
- Analytics events (page views, transcript loads, feature use, purchase funnel) go to
our self-hosted PostHog instance — first-party, never sold, never shared with ad
networks. Events are retained until we delete them; write to the address below to have events
tied to your device id deleted.
If you pay
Checkout runs entirely on Stripe. We never see
your card number. We store your Stripe customer id and subscription/pass state so your access
works, for as long as you have an active pass or subscription (plus normal accounting records).
If you give us your email
Only two features ask for an email: "email me this transcript" and channel-update
subscriptions. The address is queued for up to 7 days for delivery, used to send exactly what
you asked for, and every channel email carries a one-click unsubscribe. Buyers get a receipt
and occasional product updates, also with unsubscribe.
AI agents (MCP)
Our MCP endpoint (/mcp) lets AI assistants read already-archived transcripts. It
receives only the tool call — a video ID or search query — never your conversation. Tool usage
is logged in aggregate (tool name, success/failure) without the query content.
